Code42 Platform Version 4.2.0 is Now Available

Code42 is pleased to announce the availability of version 4.2.0 of the Code42 platform.

Version 4.2.0 of the Code42 platform contains a number of new features as well as fixes and other enhancements. Highlights include:

  • CrashPlan support for AES 256-bit encryption.
  • Ability for administrators to choose separate destinations for CrashPlan and SharePlan data.
  • The SharePlan app for iOS can now more easily exchange files and interact with other apps through the use of Apple's document provider extension.

Upgrading to 4.2.0

You can upgrade your Code42 environment to version 4.2 from Code42 platform version 4.1.6 or 

Code42 environments on version or earlier can upgrade to version 4.2.0! See our upgrade instructions for a list of supported upgrade paths.

Support and Policy Reminders

Attention administrators using the Code42 public cloud - Upgrade required

You must upgrade your Code42 environment to version or later by June 15, 2015 if your on-premises master server connects to the Code42 public cloud.

Code42 environments that are not at version or later after June 15, 2015 will be unable to connect to the Code42 public cloud. This required update is the result of a planned security upgrade.

Attention to those using Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard - End of Support May 31

Version 3.6.4 of the CrashPlan app and Code42 enterprise server, released in October 2014, is the last supported version for computers running Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard. Mac OS X v10.5 will reach Code42’s end of support date on May 31, 2015.

Attention to those using Solaris - Platform Retirement Reminder

Code42 announced platform retirement and end of support for Solaris beginning with major software version 4.0. With the release of CrashPlan app version 4.2.0, Solaris users will not receive the new CrashPlan app and will remain on CrashPlan app version 3.7.0

Existing installations of the most current CrashPlan version 3 software on the Solaris platform can continue utilizing Code42 cloud services throughout the entire CrashPlan version 3 software lifecycle.

Attention to those using Windows Phone - Platform Retirement Announcement

Code42 announced our retirement of the Windows Phone platform. This means that our 4.x products and beyond, including CrashPlan, will not support the Windows Phone platform. CrashPlan version is the last version of the CrashPlan mobile app that will support Windows Phone. 

Code42 CrashPlan support of this operating system will end when CrashPlan version 3.x enters End of Support, per our product lifecycle policy.
