Code42 Not Affected By Recent Password Theft

You may have heard about the recent data theft first reported in the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/06/technology/russian-gang-said-to-amass-more-than-a-billion-stolen-internet-credentials.html

Our Security team monitors our operations closely. We have no indication that any Code42 system has been compromised. However, this is a good reminder that security experts recommend some simple precautions to keep your identity safe online:

  • Use long, complex passwords comprised of both upper & lower case letters, numbers and symbols
  • Never use the same password for multiple logins
  • Change your passwords often

If you have any questions regarding your CrashPlan backups, our Customer Champions will be happy to answer them.
